Life force can not be restrained by a diagnosis

Life force is about ongoing evolution, growth, adaptation, adjustment, repair, healing and striving towards balance, health and wellness.

Our life force is incredibly powerful, even supporting damaged cells to grow.

Ultimately, how we choose to harness this life force determines our path, as its power can fuel our choices in any direction.

Let me share a story:

A few weeks ago, I met a five-year-old boy who was brought to us by his mother. Working with him was a delight; he absorbed everything we presented like a sponge. On our first day together, after an hour of working with him, I asked, “Do you want to be a crawler or a walker?”

He spent most of his time W-sitting and crawling on his knees. His femurs were already inwardly rotated, even in spontaneous resting positions, especially on his weaker side. This developed as a secondary dysfunction due to the misuse of his legs. It was a challenge to guide his legs into an orthofunctional position when he actively moved other parts of his body.

He looked at me and said, “I want to be a walker!”

“Well, if you do,” I replied, “you must stop crawling, start using your feet to stand on, and walk everywhere. Do you think you can do that?”

“Yes, I can,” he answered.

“Are you sure? If you keep crawling, you’ll practise being a crawler. If you start walking and keep practising, you’ll become a walker.”

“I promise I can,” he said.

In the quiet moments of our lives, our regular practices slowly and gradually shape who we become and where we end up.

An intelligent, handsome boy could end up walking and living life from a completely different perspective, or he could continue crawling and end up in a wheelchair with contractures and other health-related issues from spending most of his life sitting.

The life force is abundant and supports both paths.

There is nothing wrong with choosing either way. It is really up to the individual to decide what they feel most comfortable with and what matters most to them.

The question is, do families and children know that there is a possibility within reach for a completely different existence and future?
